## ffmpeg (GPL v3) and its source

ffmpeg is a SEPARATE PROGRAM: MAPu does not link against it, but launches it as an independent process and talks to it over its standard input/output. The bundled copy is MAPu's own build, compiled from the FFmpeg source with only the parts MAPu uses: ffmpeg-n8.1.2-54-gc573a95381-mapu1, ffmpeg.exe SHA256 02b3f8f9a820be74d16b1996ecb9ff398046dd9e071661b6d15d0d431a520515. It is a STATIC binary with these libraries compiled into it: nv-codec-headers, zlib, x264, x265, svt-av1, dav1d, vid.stab; so under section 6 of the GPL v3 it comes with its COMPLETE source — the FFmpeg source (github.com/FFmpeg/FFmpeg, commit c573a95381b0), the source of every linked library at the exact commit it was built from, and the build recipe (the installation's resources/vendor/ffmpeg/build folder, also at https://mapu.hu/ffmpeg-src/src/mapu-ffmpeg-build-recipe.tar.gz). The list is the SOURCES.md shipped next to the binary (in the installation's resources/vendor/ffmpeg folder): every library points at its original upstream repository, at the exact commit — the link above is the commit of the FFmpeg source. MAPu keeps a retained copy of every item; should an upstream address disappear, that archive is published at https://mapu.hu/ffmpeg-src/. The copy is REPLACEABLE: the ffmpeg.exe and ffprobe.exe in the installation's resources/vendor/ffmpeg folder can be swapped for another build with the same capabilities — running the igazolas.ps1 next to it tells you whether the new copy can do everything MAPu calls for. The README.md in the same folder describes exactly what is in this build, what was left out, and how to rebuild it.
